True Honor (Uncommon Heroes, Book 3)
Published in Paperback by Multnomah Publishers Inc. (September, 2002)
Author: Dee Henderson
Average review score:

Awesome book!
I love every book Dee Henderson has written. This one is centered around the events of 9/11, so it was a little more special to me. The characters are awesome; the story is awesome. I loved Darcy and Sam; you will, too!!!

Love those military men
Only Dee Henderson can create characters like Sam (Navy SEAL) strong , tough, brave soldier willing to run into the face of danger stare it down and destroy it. And yet give them a charming, comical sensitive side! (Henderson)tackles the tough subject of 9/11 from the perspective of the military and CIA officals, giving the reader new insight of what may have happend behind the scenes of one of America's worst tragedy. In the mist of the storm love begins to blossom between Darcy (CIA Agent) and Sam (Navy's elite force SEAL) a must read for all fans of romance, drama and last but not least the brave men and women who defend our great country and freedoms we cherish.

Hats off to all who hold a position in the United States military, our flags will forever waive in your honor.

Enthralling Romantic Fiction
Increasingly popular author Dee Henderson has received critical acclaims for her romance novels with a Christian theme. Her latest, book number three in the uncommon heroes series, is another winner, chock full of espionage, twisted plot turns, and a view of the life of a CIA agent.

Darcy St. James has been retired from the CIA for two years, but when fellow agent Gabriel calls her back to service for one assignment, she cannot refuse. Agreeing to meet former Russian spy, Sergey Alexandrov, at a Florida hotel, Darcy embarks on her assignment. But when the meeting goes awry, Sam Houston,a Navy SEAL she just met, come to her aid.

Darcy's views on retirement are suddenly and irrevocably altered when two days later, planes crash into the twin towers. With the sudden deaths of some CIA colleagues added to the Trade Center disaster, Darcy decides to come out of retirement and help her former agency anyway she can. Her intelligence efforts lead her to repeated encounters with Sam, and their relationship seems to flourish, despite time and distance constraints. Can their relationship survive this war on terror, as they treasure the little time they can spend together?

Ms. Henderson has succeeded admirably in building stepping stones of romance and intrigue with a plot that thickens as the novel progresses. Most fascinating is the bird's eye view of an intelligence agent's work, and the countless hours of investigation and surveillance that are essential when trying to locate the perpetrator. Mixed in with the creative story line are scripture references that have direct bearing on the Sam and Darcy's lives. Fans of Christian romance will be pleased with the characters' focus on their faiths. And those readers of all romance fiction should find much to like in this enthralling novel where the biblical passages show a hidden depth of the main players.

Women at Risk: The Hpv Epidemic and Your Cervical Health
Published in Paperback by Avery Penguin Putnam (23 May, 2002)
Authors: Gregory Henderson M.D. Ph.D, Allan Warshowsky M.D., and Batya Swift Yasgur
Average review score:

Extremely informative
For women who take the extra steps to understand and take responsibility for their own bodies (and their daughters'), this book is another Must Read. Since women bear the brunt of consequences for most STD's, as well as other reproductive issues, it pays to be as informed as possible. Dr.Dr. Henderson and company are to be commended for bringing this particular issue into the light and to the popular consciousness.

THIS IS A VERY HELPFUL BOOK
I want to tell people that I think this is a great book, but I don't think I can add anything original over what the other reviewers have already said. This is definitely clear and helpful and I've recommended it to a lot of friends. Kudos to all the authors, especially Warshowsky and his holistic chapter.

A real eye-opener
Dr. Henderson opened up my eyes to a major health problem in this country today--the HPV virus. I learned what it is, how it can be prevented, and how it can be treated. I was especially appreciative of Dr. Warshowsky's tips about holistic approaches, as I prefer to avoid medications and such whenever possible. I have three daughters in their teens and I have sat them down and talked to them about the virus. I asked them to read this book. The book, by the way, is very easy to read and they should have no problem understanding it. But I never felt "talked down to" by the authors either. I think every woman and teenager should read this!

Losing Malcolm: A Mother's Journey Through Grief
Published in Hardcover by Univ Pr of Mississippi (Trd) (April, 2001)
Author: Carol Henderson
Average review score:

Such an amazing book!!
I read a review of this book in my local paper, bought the book the same day, and read it cover to cover while my toddler destroyed the house around me...I literally could not put this book down. I was also fortunate enough to hear the author speak about, and read a passage from, Losing Malcolm at my local bookstore. I can say with assurance that the world would be a better place if everyone would read this book!

A compelling and candid story
Losing Malcolm: A Mother's Journey Through Grief is the compelling and candid story of Carol Henderson's traumatic experiences arising from the death of her infant son. Writing with a sometimes painfully honest insight, Henderson chronicles the events that ran her through a gamut of emotions including bewilderment and fear to a bone deep grief to a transforming recovery. Losing Malcom is especially recommended reading for anyone who has ever suffered the devastating loss of a loved one, as well as those that care about them and seek to substantively assist them in dealing with their suffering.

From one mom to another...
I am the mother of a child with congenital heart disease. I suffered much the same as this author, only my daughter lived. This is a wonderful book & I could relate so much, even given the fact that it was not death I was dealing with. Though I did deal with the "death" of the healthy child I thought I had given birth to. And in her place was my very sick & dying child. This author had to deal with death as a result of heart disease & I am having to deal with life as result of it. Either way it rips at your heart.

I went through a period of depression & anger. Like this author I withdrew from the world. I wanted to hide from everyone, including my closest friends. I wore a mask. I wanted everyone to think I was ok. But really anger was inside me eating at my soul like cancer. I thank Carol Henderson a thousand times for writing this. I AM NOT ALONE!! Buy this book along with a box of tissues. It will make you cry & laugh.( I particularly enjoyed the part describing "an innocent." So true...)

Thanks
I lent my Z.Henderson books to my local minister to "stir" his complacency. They were never returned. I managed to recollect them by assiduously hunting through secon-hand book stores. I THRILLED to be able to get the People stories, from Amazon. Each time I read them I cry at the wonderful beauty of the sensitivity of the people. I am an avid SF fan but this books transcends all those. I would like to classify as essential reading. Oh for some more. Thanks must go to the compilers

Sentiment, ethics and fantasy in Science Fiction
I am glad to find in "Ingathering" a collection of 'The People Stories'. As a young man I read them and felt that they were a charge to go into the world and teach, accepting people for what they were and for what they COULD be. My only regret in reading the book is to know that there will be no more stories to warm my heart and inspire my connection to the community in which I find myself. If Zenna Henderson has no remaining blood family, she has a larger family in those whom she inspired and encouraged. "The People" are an example of what can be the best in all of us.

Truly a classic
I am thrilled that the People stories are back in print. I read them years ago. I own all four of the books, including the hardcover edition of Pilgrimage. I love to share these wonderful stories with others. Now they can buy their own copies. For anyone who hasn't read the stories yet I have one caution. This hardcover edition has an introductory story preceding the first titled story "Ararat." "Ararat" is the true first story of the People and originally was published in a science fiction magazine first. I read it in the magazine and almost 40 years later I can still remember the shocking thrill that went through me as I read a certain line that told me that something strange and wonderful was about to unfold. Of course I won't reveal the line and spoil it for others, but all Zenna Henderson readers will know to what I refer. New readers READ ARARAT FIRST!!

A long time science fiction reader

Cure Your Cancer: Your Guide to the Internet

Very Helpful
I have used this book as a guide to create a protocol for alternative treatment of recently discovered cancer. I don't know what I would have done without the resources and information provided by Bill Henderson. Thanks, Bill.

Cure your cancer
I highly recommend this book. It contains very valuable information. My daughter was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) when she was 12 years old. She went through chemo treatments, the cancer mestasized to her lungs two years later. At this time I desperately searched the web for answers and found Bill Henderson and read the book. I got my daughter started on MGN-3 an immune system booster, this was a breakthrough for us. My daughter is now 16 years old and is cancer free!!! Thanks to alot of prayers and this book. Thank you Bill and God Bless you!!!

Cure Your Cancer
I was amazed at the amount of research that was done by Bill Henderson about the various methods for treatments of cancer. I've always been a believer in nutritional methods for getting and staying healthy so this book hooked be from beginning to end. However I didn't know the details of how our immune system worked and just how valuable it is to have a healthy one for fighting off diseases. This book should give anyone who has cancer some relief knowing that they do now have a fighting chance to cure it.

Report from Engine Co. 82
Published in Audio CD by Chivers Sound Library (June, 2002)
Authors: Dennis Smith and Adam Henderson
Average review score:

The most accurate and heartfelt account of firefighting
I was in seventh grade in 1978 when I first read Report From Engine Co. 82, and no book I've read since has ever had as profound an effect on me. Dennis Smith and his brother firefighters on Intervale Ave. inspired me and, I'm sure, many others to become firefighters. The book is gripping and "in-your-face", taking you into some of the most dangerous and frustrating working conditions imaginable.

I just re-read the book, and doing so rekindled the respect and admiration for the heroes of the FDNY that it originally instilled in me 22 years ago. Recently a friend and I visited "The Big House" in the South Bronx, talked with the firemen, took pictures of the neighborhood, and brought Smith's book to life. The pull box at Charlotte St. & East 170th St. made infamous by Smith's book has been replaced by an ERS box; the crumbling, burning tenaments replaced by suburban looking homes. All that remains of the horrors that took place there in the seventies is the memories of daily heroism performed by the men of Engines 82, 85, Ladder 31 and 712 perpetuated by Smith's book.

Now a teacher, I'll be sharing Report From Engine Co. 82 with my class this year. I hope that with the use of this book, I can inspire the same respect, compassion, and concern for human life in my students that Smith inspired in me so long ago.

You don't have to be a firefighter or a "wanna-be" to love Report From Engine Co. 82. Treat yourself to it as soon as you can.

Excellent view of Firefighting in Hell (New York City)
As a firefighter, I read this book with some apprehension. Other firefighting books have not shown the true realism of the job. THIS BOOK IS THE EXCEPTION. A fantastic view of one of the busiest firehouses in New York City, from the firefighter's perspective. What's it like to go to hell and back? The author has been there and is here to talk about it.

Wow!
This book is absolutely amazing. I started reading it because I was down to the deadline on choosing a book for a school report and now I'm sure I had the best book in the class. Smith takes you into the depths of a huge fire where you can actually feel the heat and choke on the smoke and then the next moment makes you feel his frustration when he takes you to his tenth malicious false alarm of the night. I have a whole new respect for the firefighters in my community and thank God that I have them. Not untill I read this book did I fully understand exactly what firefighters do. I am totally and compleatly amazed!

The Joy of Freedom: An Economist's Odyssey
Published in Hardcover by Financial Times Prentice Hall (24 September, 2001)
Author: David R. Henderson
Average review score:

Henderson rivals Hazlitt !

In the mid-80s, I took a casual poll of free market leaders:
What are the top-five free-market books for a novice to read?

Every one of them put Henry Hazlitt's "Economics in One
Lesson" on his or her list, typically at the top.

If I were to repeat the poll now, I suspect Hazlitt's classic
will have a contender for first place, my friend David
Henderson's "The Joy of Freedom."

Henderson seduces the reader with his personal stories,
like why as a college kid in Canada he resigned from
a great summer job measuring trees. His stories are
so much fun to read that learning economics kinda
sneaks up on you.

Indeed, it's Henderson's charm that is the anti-dote
for what von Mises called the "Anti-Capitalist Mentality."
(BTW, Mises' book of that title was on many 'top-five'
lists, and Bastiat's "The Law" was on every list.)

You'll want an extra copy or two of "Joy of Freedom"
for lending to friends who do not share your love of
freedom, especially those who will even argue about its
meaning.

A personal path of discovery
David Henderson is my friend and I helped him with this book, so I suppose I'm biased. But my familiarity can help you decide whether to buy this book or not.

The Joy of Freedom is the work of an exceptional teacher who has a skill for communicating economic concepts. It is the result of his lifelong desire to understand the world, to better himself, and to help others. As the reader, we walk side by side with David as he struggles to understand complex and important issues. He tells us stories from his life, from childhood through his successful career as an economist. The result is an interesting, easy-to-read, understandable, and enjoyable book about some of the more pressing problems of our time. How many other books can make that claim?

If you care about your personal retirement assets, your ability to get good health care, the education of yourself or your children, your rights and security, the inner workings of the government, the laws of economics, discrimination, or the environment, this book has something for you. You don't have to agree with everything Dr. Henderson says. In fact, because he is such a good thinker and communicator, his path of discovery should help you on your own, whatever course it may take.

I'm using this book
As a professional economist who is constantly looking for better ways to communicate the essence of economics to non economists, I couldn't be more enthusiastic about Henderson's The Joy of Freedom. Without mind numbing diagrams and equations, Henderson conveys more economic understanding than any of the standard text books I know--and I know a lot of them, having written a few myself. And it is not just economic concepts and the standard perspective on economic efficiency that he communicates so compellingly. With a personal story beautifully woven into the narrative, Henderson shows how humane and socially concerned economists can be (and generally are). Read this book and find out that economists can be passionate in wanting to make this world a better place, and have real guide posts in going about it, guide posts that elevate the ideal of freedom to the central organizing principle. The next time I teach a principles courses I'm going to do my students a tremendous favor by using David Henderson's The Joy of Freedom: An Economists Odyssey as the main text.

The Guru's Guide to SQL Server Stored Procedures, XML, and HTML (With CD-ROM)
Published in Paperback by Addison Wesley (27 December, 2001)
Author: Ken Henderson
Average review score:

Must-have for all SQL Server Programmers
The book covers so many challenging subjects with such ease. It starts out with a primer on stored procedures. It devotes chapters to database design, triggers, views, UDF's, XML, and .NET, to list some of the topics. Once you read Mr. Henderson's book, you see there is so much to learn about SQL Server. I especially liked the chapter on UDF's. If you've ever searched for a better alternative to the builtin Soundex function, Mr. Henderson provides *the* best Soundex solution for SQL Server. In fact, that alone makes the book worthwhile. And let's not forget his listing and explanation of dozens of undocumented functions and features in SQL Server.

Deep coverage of lots of subjects
Henderson is a modern-day polymath -- a person who's mastered many subjects. When you run into someone who purports to know something about a lot of different topics, usually they don't have much depth, the classic "jack of all trades and master of none." That's obviously not the case with this author. This book covers one topic after another in astonishing detail. The version control chapter is a must-read even for non-SQL Server people. Programmers in general should read it. Ditto for the design patterns chapter -- it's great stuff. The xprocs chapter, the database design chapter -- each of these is a distinctly different area within SQL Server and database technology. Not just any author could have pulled this off with such depth.

My favorite example of this is the coverage of .NET. No one but a programmer who'd been there and back could have explained all the reasons we need the .NET Framework. No one except a programmer who'd built complex applications the "hard" way would be able to set the stage for the .NET Framework being embedded in SQL Server the way Henderson has. You get the sense that you're talking to THE MAN insofar as what the Framework will do for software deveopment. It's unusual to find this kind of insight anywhere, let alone in a database book.

Henderson is my new all-time favorite technical author. I have his other T-SQL book and one of his C++ books. He's the best of the best.

Another great Ken Henderson SQL book
I bought the first Guru's Guide -- The Guru's Guide to Transact SQL -- as a way to fine-tune my SQL skills when I began a new job as a SQL Server Admin / Developer. Nearly two years later, I still find myself reaching for that book for almost every unique SQL problem that I encounter, and I am rarely disappointed. When I saw that Henderson had written another SQL book, I expected another winner. I was not disappointed.

The coverage of stored procedures, user-defined functions, and XML was first-rate. And the relatively short chapter on .NET was loaded with reasons why every SQL Server developer should be embracing this new techology.

The Essays on Software Engineering were extremely well-written. The intermingling of personal experiences and reflection with the technical details of the topics was done just right. It added a certain amount of relevance to the section that made it feel less like a theoretical lecture and more like the sharing of information by a well-respected colleague. One who has obviously experienced these things and knows what he is talking about. On the surface, these essays may seem a bit out of place in a book about Stored Procedures and XML but, in fact, they fit very well with the overall theme of the book: SQL and Stored Procedure development is "real" software engineering and needs to be treated as such if you are going to be good at it.

The Truth Seeker (O'Malley #3)
Published in Paperback by Multnomah Publishers Inc. (30 June, 2001)
Author: Dee Henderson
Average review score:

Another must read by Henderson...
*The Truth Seeker* is the third novel in the O'Malley series by Dee Henderson (though readers should technically start with *Danger in the Shadows* first). Henderson in a short time has written and published several novels that are sure to please fans of Christian fiction!

In *The Truth Seeker*, Lisa O'Malley and Quinn Diamond are thrown together in an investigation of a lifetime. Lisa, a forensic examiner, is working the scene at a house fire/possible murder, when she is injured severely and forced to accept the willing help of both her family and Quinn. Quinn becomes a valuable part of Lisa's life by supporting her through her recovery and investigating a series of murders that may be related to his own father's shooting death twenty years earlier. Falling in love with each other is an inevitability.

As Lisa and Quinn work around the clock to find out the truth, the other six O'Malleys continue watching over Jennifer as she plans her wedding and continues cancer treatment. And as Lisa struggles with her own past and inability to believe in Christ's resurrection, Quinn prays that Lisa will follow three of her siblings in becoming a believer.

Once again, Dee has demonstrated a fine talent for writing Christian romance and suspense. This is definitely a must read!

Love the O'Malley Family
I would agree with all of the people who say that they love these books. Dee Henderson is an awesome writer. I think the thing that I like most about these books is that they all just roll into the next book in the series. I have read other books that are part of a series and it seems that some of the facts change from book to book. Henderson keeps her characters consistant in all of the books and since the O'Malley's are a family you get to not only follow the romance and suspense of a sibling, but also enjoy the other family members that you have grown to love in the other books in the series.

I have loved all of Dee Henderson's books so far and you will notice that most of those that did not care for her books admitted that they did not usually read fiction books, or that they did not usually read romance books. I think that is one of the things that makes her books unique. They have a story that does not rely on romance alone. I enjoy suspense books and romance books and usually bounce between the two, this is a wonderful blend of the two.

another keeper
I had been looking forward to this book's release for a few months now, and I was not disappointed. Dee Henderson is quickly becoming one of those authors whose books you just buy because you know that they will be good. In this book, she keeps up the pace of her first 2 O'Malley books--meaning once you start the first chapter, you will not want to put it down. We first got a glimpse of Lisa and Quinn in her last book, and watching their relationship unfold in this book is great. However, what I especially liked was all of the details we get about Lisa's job working for the state crime lab. If you are at all interested in Forensics, you will enjoy this read. Of course, I would be remiss not to mention the spiritual aspect of this novel (what truly sets Dee's writing apart from other books), as Lisa deals with the Resurrection. It definitely gives her character depth. If you have yet to pick up a Dee Henderson novel, you are missing out. I highly recommend the Truth Seeker, and I can't wait for the next installment.

The Farthest Away Mountain
Published in Paperback by Camelot (February, 1992)
Authors: Lynne Reid Banks and Dave Henderson
Average review score:

Great Book For Young Girls
Oh my gosh, how I loved this book. In third grade, I read it until the cover fell off! This unconventional fairy tale far surpassed other romantic tales in my mind. Banks shows images that are beautiful and incredibly imaginative. I would guide a girl aged around 8 to 14 to this book, depending on her reading ability, though the book is not terribly difficult. I consider this a classic and a must read for young girls. It's one of the first fairy tales where the heroine doesn't need (or particularly like) a prince coming to her rescue.

I fund This book"The Farthest-Away Mountain"very interesting
The book " The farthest-away mountain" is a very good and inriching book. I've read this book and I fell that this book is a very well-writen childs book. I have asked all my friends to read this book and they have. We all found it very interesting. I'm alway judging my books by the Illustration and how it is written. This book takes you on an adventure like no other. When I read this book, I get pulled into the story with Dakin. I love it when she kickes her way through the painted snow and how her book of poem's is always giving her help. After all I would give this book an A+ i writing. I'm in 7th grade and wish I could read more of this book. I love how you get into part in the book and then something scary or interistin happens. I love this book. I wish every kid could have the chance to read this book and be taken into the adventure!

A MUST READ
This is one of my top fantasy stories. I read this amazing book when I was in junior high and could not put it down once I began. From the moment I began it until the unfortunate moment that it ended, I was completely engrossed in it. It was like watching a favorite movie, each step your character makes is a step that you take, and each moment of joy or sadness is a moment that squeezes your heart. This is a story about a girl who wakes up each morning and finds that something is missing in her life, and when the chance for adventure arrives she steps out into the world to fullfill her dreams.
Read this book! Have your child read it! You will not be disappointed!
